Last year, Dublin Independent Fashion Weekend (DIFW) was launched by a group of independent fashion designers from across the country, all in the hopes of promoting some of the incredible talent growing in Ireland.
This year, the event is set to return with even more talent, this time taking place in Dublin's Smock Alley Theatre on Friday, 15 November.
The DIFW Founding Committee includes designers Laoise Carey, Aisling Duffy, Ríon Hannora and Sarah O' Neill (The Zero Waster) - all of whom incorporate reclaimed materials and zero-waste methodologies into their practices.
Committee member Sarah Carroll Kelly (Shock of Grey) creates handcrafted FSC certified wood, brass and recycled jewellery with a focus on sustainability, while slow knit-wear designers Mihai Mar (Mar Knitwear) and Megan McGuigan (Solstice by Seeking Judy) specialise in bespoke textile-driven knit pieces.
The sustainably stylish committee has curated an impressive line up of Irish fashion brands to join them for this year’s showroom. These include fashion and accessory brands like Alana Conlon, August Night, DNA Design, Ejay Griffin, Emerald and Wax, Jennifer Slattery, Nimiiny, and Noble Daughters.
The promising work will be on display at the industry-first Irish Design Showroom where each brand has curated an immersive pop-up space. Attendees will be able to shop the designers, connect with industry titans, and be inspired by the diverse line-up of bespoke creations.
The evening will also feature an exclusive live-model presentation and immersive performance of all the participating designers' collections.
As the cherry on top of the illustrious evening, DIFW will debut its 'Ones to Watch' feature, which will see six emerging talents have a dedicated section for their offerings.
The showcase aims to inspire designers across Ireland to continue cultivating their work on Irish soil.
Dublin Independent Fashion Week 2024 takes place from 11-17 November.
