Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal, and Saoirse Ronan were among the A-list celebrities attending the 2024 Governors Awards at Dolby Theatre in California.

While Ronan wore feathered custom Louis Vuitton, and Mescal once again donned a Gucci suit, Barry Keoghan appeared in Dolce and Gabbana.

Established to balance the desire to honor individuals from the industry, without worrying about the time constraints of the Oscars.annual awards, the Governors Awards have been running since 2009.

The Board of Governors voted to create the event so as to present its testimonial awards: the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award (presented to a creative producer), the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award (to celebrate humanitarian efforts), and the Honorary Award (given for extraordinary lifetime achievement, exceptional contribution or outstanding service).

Recipients are announced each summer and honored at a dinner gala in November. This year, director Richard Curtis recieved the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award; James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli were honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award; honorary Oscars went to the late Quincy Jones and casting director Juliet Taylor.
