Listen: All you need to know about buying lingerie

Buying lingerie for your other half can be an exceptionally intimidating task, especially if you don't know your balconette from your bralette.

Sinead Sanderson from Peaches and Cream - a lingerie shop found at 30A South King Street, Dublin 2 - joined Lottie in studio to give some guidance.

"It really depends on the stage of the relationship is at," she insists. "Sizing is key - you have to do a little bit of homework. If you're early days and you don't have that information or access to that information, stick to Small, Medium, Large. Go for a pair of pajamas, a babydoll, a bodysuit - you can easily get that right."

For longer relationships, Sanderson advises men to have a look in the drawer and write down the size of bras their partner has been wearing most recently. Also try to take note of the shape of her favourite bras to get an idea of what fit will work best.

"They should go somewhere they feel comfortable and where they can get assistance," she says, noting that shop assitants will be able to inform buyers on which ones typically run small or is particularly popular.

Another important tip is to read the room when it comes to intimate gifts.

"If your partner is conservative, or this hasn't been discussed, she might feel objectified - you just don't know - it could go down like a lead balloon. But if you have a relationship where it looks like a very romantic gesture, you're being thoughful and romantic, then do a little bit of homework.

"Try to say what her style is. What have you seen her wear before? If something in the store looks familiar or that trend - stick with that."
